Staff Information

The Camp Chatterbox staff is made up of a core of creative and highly motivated individuals to work as therapists, interns betting online, graduate students and counselors for the Chatterbox Program.  A limited number of volunteers are accepted to assist in day or evening activities. All staff are required to attend 1½ days of training prior to the arrival of the campers.  

Professional Internship Program. Camp Chatterbox offers training opportunities for professionals and advanced level Master’s Degree students to gain hands-on experience working with children using AAC systems. Participants will learn to: 1) customize devices for a range of activities, and 2) facilitate functional device throughout the range of camp activities. They should be flexible, have lots of stamina, and possess a sense of humor and adventure.  The cost of this internship program is $300. This includes training sessions, housing, meals, and a camp t-shirt. Professionals who refer a camper who is online bet accepted to the program will receive a $150 discount on their registration fee. Thanks to the generous donation of a Foundation Grant, a limited number of Stipends ($300 each) will be awarded to qualified recipients. Interested individuals (e.g., speech-language pathologists, teachers, OT’s, assistive technology specialists) must submit an Application to Applicants will be notified by early spring regarding their acceptance into the program. Graduate Students A limited number of graduate students will be accepted as student interns for this program.  Please check back soon for additional information. 

Counselors may apply to work at one of three levels of service. Level 1 counselors work in conjunction with the therapy staff during daily therapy activities.  In addition, they play a lead role in planning the evening activities so that Campers maximize the use of their devices.  They also assist in transporting campers to activities, leading the campers in songs, assisting with serving and clean up for meals, and participating in the talent show.  Level 2 Counselors support the needs of campers in the Independent Camper Program who require minimal care tor their  Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s).  They are also actively involved in the same activities as described for Level 1 Counselors.  Level 3 Counselors assist campers who require total care for their ADL’s.  They participate in the range of camp along with their assigned camper(s).  Download a Counselor Application and Reference Forms.  Contact with any questions.
